Dataw Island Named One of "America's Top 100 Golf Communities"
Dataw Island was recently recognized by Travel + Leisure Golf magazine as one of “America's Top 100 Golf Communities.” In the publication's January 2009 edition, Dataw Island is honored as one of only 13 South Carolina communities bestowed this distinction by T+L Golf.
This is the first time Dataw Island has been recognized by the publication. The selection process by Travel + Leisure Golf editors included: cost; amenities; master-planning of communities; and location. Dataw Island was chosen due to the community's affordable, unique mix of golf, activism, topography and other amenities.
“We're honored to be recognized by Travel + Leisure Golf as one of ‘America's Top 100 Golf Communities' and feel it reflects our dedication to providing a lush, amenity-laden community for our members and residents,” said Silvia Lalinde, director of membership and marketing of Dataw Island Club. “As we move forward, it is our goal to continue to expand on this award by providing one of the best lifestyle options available to prospective golf community residents.”

Tip of the Month: Get a Grip on It
If you are experiencing forearm soreness from a one day workout, or worse yet, extended pain over time, one area to think about is your grip. Often a heavy grip is overlooked when it comes to analyzing mild to extreme elbow problems but it can easily be a contributing factor. It is normal to "squeeze" at contact on your shots but many go overboard on this and are unaware because at the time they are focused on the hit. The gripping motion should be firm but not manic and most of the input should be from the middle, ring and pinky fingers for control of the shot. See if you can be cognizant of your grip strength during your next rally session and see if you can't loosen up a bit if you recognize that you are over gripping. As with other muscles used in stroking the ball, it is best when muscles tension is kept a minimum, just enough to get the job done in a stabilizing way but not enough to rob the shot of its power.
Codes of Conduct
(Brainteaser Q & A about rules
and etiquette for scholars of the game.)
Question: In a doubles match player A hits a cross court shot to opponent B which hits a ball that was left in the alley from a let first serve. Opponent B is able to return the live ball for a down the line winner. Player A claims the point noting once that once the live ball hit the dead ball the rally is dead. Who wins the point?
Answer: Player B wins the point. If the ball has not been cleared before the second serve there is an unspoken agreement that both players are willing to play under those conditions
