The filming of Forrest Gump made quite an impression on Beaufort. After filming was complete, the Beaufort Shrimp Festival was created and has continued as a tradition ever since.

This year, the 15th Annual Beaufort Shrimp Festival will take place on October 2nd and 3rd. This festival celebrates Lowcountry cuisine and incorporates fun activities for all ages. This family-friendly event also includes children’s events such as the “Popcorn Shrimp” run and a shrimp peeling contest.

After 1 ˝ years of development, a dramatic new exhibit capturing Dataw’s historic heritage will soon be ready for your viewing pleasure.
