March 9, 2010, St. Helena Island, S.C. – Dataw Island has been named one of the top 10 “Best Retirement Communities in South Carolina” by Best Retirement Destinations. The island community located between Charleston and Savannah near Beaufort, S.C. placed third in the state with the results appearing in the online magazine’s March issue.

 

Five criteria were used to determine the rankings including residential options, visual appeal, recreational activities, social networking opportunities, and safety and security. Dataw Island received a score of 96 percent in the top 10 survey.
